Welcome to Midtown Framer & Art
FOUNDER AND LEADER
Danny Bubnick, owner of Midtown Framer and Art, passed away Sunday surrounded by his family and friends. He is well known in the fine art and framing community in Memphis having managed BA Framer's midtown store for almost 20 years before opening his own frame shop and gallery in 2009 in the same neighborhood. Danny's wife Carol who has been a partner in the business from its inception, will take a more active role in the business and wants the community and customers to know that the dedicated staff will take the business forward providing the same creativity, value and service that Danny set a a benchmark.
Danny embraced his success by giving generously to the local arts scene...helping local artists, well-known and emerging, making sure their art was properly presented. He has also provided gallery space to dozens of artists to help boost their sales. Artists like George Hunt, Stephen Hudson, David Lynch and Michael Mannes called Midtown Framer "home."
At the same time, Danny made sure that Midtown Framer & Art stepped up to support cultural and arts organizations, and other non-profit groups. When they put together their annual auctions, Danny saw to it that any donated art was graced with an appropriate frame. Organizations include The Orpheum, American Heart Association, The Blues Foundation, Baptist's Hospitals' Art for Caring, Withers Museum & Gallery, National Blues Music Art Museum and his church, Hope Presbyterian. He was a solid and driving force in helping make sure Memphis was a better place and a more appealing city showcasing its art.
Approaching his business as a family operation, Danny and his loyal staff have worked together for almost 20 years, providing a level of unique design and solid quality for almost ten thousand customers. Nick Prasko, a 15-year employee has been serving as General Manager of Midtown Framer for the past three years and will continue in that position. David Simmons has worked with Danny Bubnick for more than 25 years dividing his time between art sales, and marketing/branding. He will continue his role as marketing manager and business consultant.
Midtown Framer & Art, the largest framing operation in the Mid-South, is housed in a 6,000 sq. ft. 108 year-old Victorian house at 1523 Union Avenue.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Baptist Memorial Health Care's Kemmons Wilson Family Center for Good Grief or The American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be at Memorial Park, Thursday, November 8th from 5 - 7 pm. The service will be at Memorial Park on Friday, November 9th at 11 am. Following the service, there will be a reception at Midtown Framer & Art, 1523 Union Ave.
